Cumberland Lake Park has a new nature play space that will entertain children and aid in shoreline restoration at the same time.
The project features newly planted trees and native vegetation, safeguarded by fencing, alongside a nature play area with various log structures and a shade sail.
The previous playground was removed in 2020 due to safety concerns related to the age of the equipment. Lake Park Society spearheaded the replacement effort but thanked the many donors who helped make the project possible, including the Rotary Club of Cumberland Centennial and Mainroad North Island along with over 60 other individuals and local businesses.
Lake Park Society is a non-profit that has been contracted for the operation of Cumberland Lake Park Campground since 2015. While it operates like a business, it invests all its profits back into the community.
