British Columbia’s and Canada’s Filipino community is trying to come to terms after Saturday’s deadly incident at a Vancouver festival.

At least 11 people were killed, and multiple others were injured after a driver drove into a crowd at a street festival shortly after 8 p.m. on Saturday.

The 30-year old driver, a Vancouver resident, was taken into custody. He’s been held on bail charged with 8 counts of second degree murder.

Those killed ranged in age from 5 to 65.

Police have said they will provide more information as the investigation unfolds but said yesterday that they were confident the incident was not a terrorist act.

Premier David Eby, like many others, said he was shocked and heartbroken to hear of the lives lost and those injured at the festival.
