BC Ferries is enhancing its support for emergency responders by streamlining the booking process and offering expedited loading and priority boarding for those aiding wildfire responses both in B.C. and across the country.
“We provide an essential service for communities up and down the coast, and supporting emergency responses is a key part of that,” says Nicolas Jimenez, President & CEO of BC Ferries.
“This new process simplifies travel for first responders, allowing them to reach their destination easily and focus on protecting and saving lives.”
Developed in partnership with the BC Wildfire Service, the new process will ensure emergency vehicles, crews and support staff have timely and reliable ferry access during the busy summer travel season.
With record numbers of travellers expected on board this summer, the new centralized booking process and single form for emergency responders in active pursuit of a wildfire will ensure they can load onto the right vessel, at the right time.
