BC Hydro is advising residents that Brewster Lake Road across from the John Hart Dam is closed until Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
They’re doing work as part of the early site preparation for the dam’s Seismic Upgrade Project.
A buncher machine will be used to remove the trees along the slope and given the size of the tall trees, the road will need to be closed for public safety.
When the road reopens, people driving across that section of the dam will notice a significant difference in the view of the river below the dam.
BC Hydro is reminding drivers to be focused on the narrow roadway.
BC Hydro is also issuing a public safety notice of higher water flows starting within Elk Falls Canyon to assist steelhead in migrating and spawning below Elk Falls, both today and tomorrow.
Safety signs will be in place.
