A BC firefighter has died battling a wildfire in Revelstoke.
The death comes as the province puts out a call for national and international help to fight the 350 or so fires burning across B.C.
Premier David Eby offered his condolences to the firefighter’s family and colleagues - the same day Emergency Management and Climate Readiness Minister Bowinn Ma asked for more help in battling the 350 wildfires currently burning in BC.
She said the province needs another thousand international firefighters to come on board.
Ma is also again asking BC residents to reduce water usage, as below normal rainfall plunges the province into a worsening drought situation.
Ma says she hasn’t yet decided to impose provincewide water restrictions - but the situation is dire.
Vancouver Island is particularly dry - the province uses a drought classification to explain the severity of drought, on a scale of zero-to-five. East and West Vancouver Island water basins are at Level 5.
