Habitat for Humanity Vancouver Island North’s third annual Bid to Build Online Auction recently concluded, and the final fundraising totals are now in.
Volunteers, businesses, community partners, and bidders came together to raise over $46,000 towards building safe and affordable homes. Not only did this year’s auction items close at $5,000 more than last year’s auction, but the non-profit also reported an increase in volunteer engagement, donors, and registered bidders.
Cady Corman is the Director of Communications and Fundraising with Habitat for Humanity Vancouver Island North and says the proceeds will support their largest builds to date, twenty homes to be built at 461 Hilchey Road in in Campbell River - another 12 at 1375 Piercy Avenue in Courtney.
Over 180 businesses and professionals donated 251 auction items and this is the first year that every single auction item was bid on.
Even with the auction’s success, Habitat VIN’s financial need remains with inflation impacting everyone in the building industry, including non-profits.
If you missed this year’s auction, or got a great deal on your bid and want to pay it forward, you can make a donation towards Habitat VIN’s upcoming affordable housing projects at https://www.habitatnorthisland.com/donate/
