A survey of BCs liquor and hospitality industries suggests the vast majority of businesses are worried about the ongoing BC General Employees Union job action. Job action is now into its third week.
The survey, by the Alliance of Beverage Licensees, found 80 percent of respondents saying they are worried about their viability.
ABLE BC says it asked 400 industry members about the job action last week.
The survey found that half of respondents say inventory is already down 25-percent, 20 percent have reduced staff hours and 6 percent have already laid off staff.
Another 30 percent say they expect layoffs to happen if the strike continues.
The BCGEU first set up picket lines outside liquor distribution warehouses, followed by a ban on overtime.
The union and province sat back down at the bargaining table last week.
