A local non-profit that offers financial assistance to families when they have a child facing a health crisis just received a big boost.
Cameryn's Cause for Kids Society received $9,450 this week from local realtor Don Corder, with ReMax Check Realty.
Corder runs the Shoot-to-Win contest at the Campbell River Storm games and donates proceeds from ticket sales to Cameryn's Cause at the end of the hockey season.
Over the last four years, his initiative has raised over $24,000.
Cameryn’s Cause for Kids Society was created to honour the life of Cameryn Harris who passed away in 2003, at age three from a brain tumour.
They help families with expenses such as travel costs, special medications and equipment. They also cover funeral expenses in the event of a child’s death.
To date, the group says it has been able to help more than 350 local families in crisis.
All of their funds are raised through fundraising efforts and donated by businesses and individuals in the community.
