The Campbell River and North Island Transition Society is getting to work on this year’s Christmas Toy Drive.

The Society is a registered non-profit organization which has a mandate to end family violence and violence against women and children. Its programs and services are available to all women and their children in the North Vancouver Island Region.

They operate Ann Elmore Transition House and Rose Harbour Transitional Housing in Campbell River, while also operating safe homes in remote locations.

With the addition of Eagle Harbour, they now have a lot more clients with children this year and are again asking for the generous support of the community.

They are collecting donations of new or very gently used items for children of all ages - from newborns to those up to 12 years of age.

Items will be distributed at the Society’s Santa's Workshop in December where moms can “shop” for gifts that she can wrap and give to her children on Christmas.

They also accept items for moms that can include pajamas, treats, gift cards, socks, candles, tape and wrapping paper.

Unwrapped gifts can be dropped off at Rose Harbour on Dogwood Street, 10am-3pm, Monday to Friday.

Keeping Our Word

The word "éy7á7juuthem" means “Language of our People” and is the ancestral tongue of the Homalco, Tla’amin, Klahoose and K’ómoks First Nations, with dialectic differences in each community.

It is pronounced "eye-ya-jooth-hem."
