The Campbell River and North Island Transition Society is offering a big thank you to the community for helping with its holiday toy drive.

The Society’s Diane Palmer says all 25 children at Rose Harbour and Ann Elmore Transition House will now have some things under the tree this Christmas.

Palmer says the group is thrilled with the outcome, and more than $500 in cash, that will go toward gift cards for some of the older kids.

Another big fundraiser for society, and that of the Comox Valley Transition Society, is on its way in the coming months.

The Coldest Night of the Year takes place on February 24th in cities across Canada.

It’s a family-friendly walk to raise money for local charities serving people experiencing hurt, hunger, and homelessness.

Keeping Our Word

The word "éy7á7juuthem" means “Language of our People” and is the ancestral tongue of the Homalco, Tla’amin, Klahoose and K’ómoks First Nations, with dialectic differences in each community.

It is pronounced "eye-ya-jooth-hem."
