The Vancouver Island Regional Library - Campbell River and the Community Action Team are co-hosting a six part series to engage, educate and answer questions about the toxic drug poisoning crisis in Campbell River.

The groups are hoping the dialogue will generate local solutions and greater understanding.

The weekly sessions begin today at 5:30 for six weeks at the Library on Shoppers Row downtown.

Joelle Samson, Library Manager, says the response last year was very positive and by offering an alternate time this year, they hope more folks can attend and get their questions answered and become allies.

Experts in the sector will make short presentations each week and then lead a Q&A.

Topics include:

  • Youth and Prevention
  • The Current Drug Supply & What’s Changed
  • Mythbusting
  • Harm Reduction Where You Least Expect It
  • Culture: The Missing Piece

The final session will feature programs, resources and information about what is already being done, and is available in the community.

They’ll also celebrate the hundreds of individuals who bring their passion, compassion and energy to serve, offering a variety of actions that attendees can take to participate in solutions.
