The City of Campbell River is keeping the Campbell River Community Centre open as a warming centre until at least Thursday morning.

It's been active since Friday night, 10pm to 7am.

The Warming Centre is open to everyone for short-term stays, along with pets on leashes and personal belongings, including bikes and carts.

Hot drinks, snacks and seating will be available, but no beds.

Along with the Centre in Campbell River, warming Centres in the Comox Valley are also active at the Lower Native Sons Hall in Courtenay, Buchanan Hall in Cumberland, and Spinnaker Building in Comox.

Keeping Our Word

The word "éy7á7juuthem" means “Language of our People” and is the ancestral tongue of the Homalco, Tla’amin, Klahoose and K’ómoks First Nations, with dialectic differences in each community.

It is pronounced "eye-ya-jooth-hem."
