More than $3000 was raised in support of Habitat for Humanity Vancouver Island North - at a recent shed auction.
The Comox Valley ReStore hosted the Garden Shed Auction a few weeks back - with Campbell River’s Mike Peterson coming out as the winning bidder at $3,150.
Funds raised will support Habitat VIN’s latest affordable housing project on Piercy Avenue in Courtenay.
The 12-home project aims to provide safe, decent, and affordable homes to families in the community.
Habitat VIN has brought the community together to build 39 affordable homes on North Vancouver Island since its founding in 2004.
Habitat homeowners pay an affordable mortgage geared to their income and volunteer 500 hours with the organization. As homeowners pay off their mortgage, the funds are reinvested into a revolving fund, which is then used to build more homes for more families in the community.
Yana Dimitrova, Marketing Coordinator for Habitat for Humanity V-I-N, says everyone from the group is sending out thanks to all those who contributed to the event and made bids.
Habitat VIN’s next fundraiser is their annual Bid-to-Build Online auction, which will launch in June.
