It was a big drug bust recently for Campbell River RCMP.
On February 21st, the Street Crime Unit, along with assistance from the Major Crime Unit and Crime Reduction Unit executed a search warrant in the 600 block of Nursery Road.
Police found over 2 kilograms of fentanyl, over a kilogram of cocaine, over a kilogram of methamphetamine and over 3500 Dilaudid (Hydromorphone) pills.
Dilaudid is a powerful opioid prescribed for severe pain or as a safe supply.
Evidence was located during the search suggesting that these Dilaudid pills had been diverted from safe supply prescriptions.
Investigators also located over $30,000 in cash, and numerous other prescription pills. Police say it appears to have been a “well-organized drug trafficking operation” run from the residence.
Of note, police say some of the Fentanyl powder had been molded into the shape of gummy bears and dinosaurs.
Police also seized a Dodge Ram and Jeep Cherokee.
A Campbell River woman in her 50’s was arrested on scene and released with a court date in May. Drug trafficking charges will be recommended against the woman and charges will be also recommended against three others as a result of the investigation.
Inspector Jeff Preston says the seizure is an excellent example of the ongoing efforts of officers “to hold the criminal elements of the drug trade accountable for their illegal activities in our community.”
