Campbell River Residents Paying Less Municipal Tax Comparable Communities

Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at 6:45 AM

By Jay Herrington

As Campbell River Council continues to debate the budget, a recent review of municipal tax rates indicates the city’s rates and levels of overall taxation are consistent or below other communities across the province.

There are rules in place that require a review of city tax rates on a three-year basis, ensuring that rates are comparable and reasonable given assessed values in Campbell River as compared to other communities.

For 2024, the average taxes and utilities that were levied on an average home in B.C. in communities with a population between 25,000 and 50,000 was $6,071, compared to $5,556 in Campbell River.

Highlights of the November 21, 2024, Council meeting are now available online at City of Campbell River.
