There is a drop-in event Tuesday night at the Maritime Heritage Centre tonight for Campbell River residents to have a look at new housing in the city.

Campbell River was awarded $10.4 million from the Government of Canada’s Housing Accelerator Fund earlier this year.

The fund will be used to fast-track 282 housing units in Campbell River - part of a broader strategy to grow the local housing supply that looks to permit a total of 1,200 units, over the next three years.

The plan centres around several initiatives to reduce barriers to development and increase the availability of housing, including affordable housing, in Campbell River.

Mayor Kermit Dahl says staff want to hear from as many residents as possible to ensure that the initiatives reflect community input.

The open house runs from 5pm to 7pm.
