Canada Blood Services says it needs to fill close to 60-thousand appointments by the end of August to ensure Canadians have a steady supply, especially with the long weekend approaching.
The agency says it needs 100-thousand new donors to keep up with demand as it continues to deal with a drop in donations in light of the pandemic.
This comes, as CBS suspended its mandatory masking policy this week, which has some long-time donors considering when they'll roll up their sleeves again.
In Campbell River, there are several appointments still available for an upcoming blood donor event.
It will be held at the Campbell River Community Hall on 11th Ave, on August 11th, from 12:30pm to 6:30pm.
You can book an appointment now at https://www.blood.ca/en, through the GiveBlood app, or by calling 1-888-2-DONATE (1-888-236-6283).
