On Saturday, June 4, the City of Campbell River Fire Department will be promoting the FireSmart Plant Tagging Program at local participating businesses.
On Saturday, June 4, the City of Campbell River Fire Department will be promoting the FireSmart Plant Tagging Program at local participating businesses. Trees and shrubs that are less susceptible to fire will be tagged and easily identifiable. Join them to learn how FireSmart plants can make your home and community more resilient to wildfire.
The Fire Department will be at the Campbell River Garden Centre June 4th from 9 a.m. to noon.
They will head over to Sticks ‘n Stones Nursery that same day from 1 to 4 p.m.
City Fire and Life Safety Educator Shawn Hall says “You can still plant the more flammable coniferous and deciduous trees on your property. Knowing where is the key to staying FireSmart.”
You can visit the booths to learn about FireSmart landscaping, spacing of materials, ignition zones, and other local initiatives.

The City will also have a FireSmart booth at the Canada Day festivities on July 1, 2022, alongside the BC Wildfire Service.
