The City of Campbell River is exploring options to modernize and improve how it shares various public notices that are required by provincial legislation.
The City says a new bylaw would also enhance its objective of open, transparent, and accessible public communications, while saving money.
The City currently advertises public notices twice in a local newspaper, as was required per the Community Charter.
If the proposed Public Notice Bylaw is adopted, public notices would first be posted on the City’s social media channels and website. Second notices would be advertised in the newspaper.
The City says the proposed changes are in part due to feedback received through this year’s Citizen Satisfaction Survey.
The bylaw goes up for third reading at the upcoming council meeting on Thursday.
