The City of Campbell River has partnered with the Canadian Centre for Safer Communities to develop a comprehensive Community Safety and Well-being (CSWB) Plan.
The initiative aims to create a vision and actionable plan that enhances safety, sense of safety, and overall well-being within the community.
Mayor Kermit Dahl says the plan will help address some of the complex societal challenges we face today.
With contributions from across the community, Dahl says the plan will allow them to move forward on strategic, informed action to reduce crime, provide necessary support, and make Campbell River a livable and walkable city for all.
The City says the plan’s success depends greatly on community involvement.
There is a survey up at Community Safety and Well-Being Survey throughout the month of April.
Insights will help assess the current state of community safety and identify areas for improvement.
The City says achieving community safety involves increasing access to essential services, implementing prevention programs, and addressing structural conditions through ongoing communication and civic engagement, ultimately fostering trust and a preventative focus.
The plan will be developed throughout the year and is expected to be finalized by December.
