Downed trees and lines knocked power out for thousands on Vancouver Island and the cleanup continues today.

BC Hydro says about 35-thousand customers are still without power this morning on the Island.

Environment Canada has taken down its warnings and weather statements for the area. While the winds have calmed, showers are expected here and there throughout the day.

Local and provincial crews have been working around the clock to clear trees and debris, get power back on, and re-open closed roads.

Warming Centres were again activated in Campbell River and Courtenay to keep people out of the cold.

While power is still out for thousands, at the time of this writing, BC Hydro says it has been restored to 80 percent of customers.
