Community grant applications are now being accepted from organizations to provide social, cultural, recreational and environmental services that benefit the residents of Cumberland.

Projects and services need to further one or more strategic objectives, including:

  • meaningful reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples
  • socio-economic diversity and inclusion, including food security and accessibility
  • thriving community arts, culture and recreation
  • multi-modal transportation, including active travel
  • effective response to climate change, including reduction in greenhouse gases

Applications will be accepted for a minimum of $2000. Last year’s recipients included Beaufort Family Health Society, Comox Valley Child Development Association, and the Rotary Club of Cumberland.

Applications are being accepted until February 24th.

Keeping Our Word

The word "éy7á7juuthem" means “Language of our People” and is the ancestral tongue of the Homalco, Tla’amin, Klahoose and K’ómoks First Nations, with dialectic differences in each community.

It is pronounced "eye-ya-jooth-hem."
