Three Vancouver Island small businesses - including one from Courtenay - have been selected as finalists in the Small Business BC Awards, after competing against over 400 businesses from 75 towns and cities across the province.

After working to garner the support of their communities and gain as many votes as possible, the top five nominees In the E-Commerce Experience, Business Impact, and Best Youth Entrepreneur categories pitched why their business should win to a panel of judges.

The competition was then narrowed to the top three finalists in those award categories.

Courtenay’s West Coast Karma is up for the Premier’s People’s Choice Award, presented to a small business that can demonstrate the unwavering and loyal support of their community.

The company offers unique, comfortable clothing and accessories decorated with hand-drawn, nature-inspired designs.

The 21st Annual Small Business BC Awards will be handed out on November 1st  - over $20,000 in prizes will be shared amongst the four award categories - and celebrated at a reception at the Vancouver Convention Centre.
