As the year draws to a close, Comox Mayor Nicole Minions is reflecting on achievements made by the Town in 2024.

In a message to the community, Mayor Minions recognized the hard work of Council, staff, and local partners, saying, "This year's achievements were a collaborative effort that deserve to be celebrated."

Highlights include funding coming in to help the Town increase the housing supply, new bylaws to allow for more multi-family housing, a new aerial ladder fire truck unveiled in May, and the construction of the Lazo Greenway Multi-Use Path, among several other projects and initiatives.

The Town is also working at reducing greenhouse gas emissions and looking at future climate impacts by preparing for the long-term effects on infrastructure, sustainable transportation, urban forest management and the readiness for residents to prepare for emergency situations and risks.

“We are thrilled with the high-level of public participation in shaping Comox’s future through the Economic Development Strategy, Parks and Trails Master Plan, and the OCP (Official Community Plan) update,” noted Minions.

“The feedback through surveys, conversations and community outreach has been incredibly valuable in shaping a vision for our future.”
