The Comox Valley Airport (YQQ) is marking the third busiest year in its history, and busiest since the pandemic.

402,757 total passengers were served in 2024, reflecting an 8.3% increase - or 30,768 additional travelers - compared to 2023. December alone saw a total of 36,014 passengers.

The fourth quarter of 2024 was the airport’s busiest on record, achieving new monthly heights for both October and November.

“The resurgence in passenger traffic at YQQ speaks to the airport’s commitment to providing outstanding service, maintaining strong partnerships with airline carriers, and enhancing connectivity for the region,” says Comox Valley Airport Commission CEO Mike Atkins.

“This year saw the successful launch of a new route to Kelowna, and the continued popularity of our seasonal flights to Toronto and Puerto Vallarta. Overall, we are now 98% recovered to 2019 passenger levels — a testament to the vital link our airport represents for Vancouver Island.”

With the momentum of 2024 behind them, the airport says it looks forward to continuing to serve as a vital gateway for Vancouver Island residents and visitors alike.

YQQ is due to welcome its landmark 7-millionth passenger this Spring.
