The Comox Valley Child Development Association is out with some details on an event next week to unveil a new, large format mosaic mural outside of their downtown Courtenay offices.
The unveiling ceremony, happening next Friday, June 2nd, will be open to the public along with a number of invited special guests.
Following the unveiling, the CVCDA will host a celebration to include food, live music, kids activities and more.
In addition, they’re putting on a fundraising Yard Sale from 1pm-4pm with all proceeds going to the CVCDA’s JumpStart Preschool, The Autism Program, and the Outdoor Play Space.
The mural, measuring 10’ by 20’, is made up of 2000 individual tiles, each one painted by participants from all over the world, including many by members of the community, board and team members, program participants and their families along with some community supporters.
This piece will live outside their main offices on Third St. in Downtown Courtenay permanently.
The Canada Spring Mural Mosaic celebrates the collaboration of hundreds of individual artists throughout Canada and several parts of the world.
Each artist’s painting is their own interpretation and insight into the project’s theme of connection, and how when we come together, we can create harmony in one shared experience.
