The Comox Valley community is rallying around a local man who saved he lives of four people after a plane crash last year.

In a post on Facebook, Kelsey Wurzinger said Don Fossum saved her life and those of three others on December 18th.

Wurzinger has started up a Gofund me for Fossum - the pilot of a float plane that crashed in December when both engines failed.

In her post, Wurzinger - with Jacknife Pizza - wrote: “despite a high speed crash into the forest floor and a destroyed airplane, this man made sure we made it home to our families, expecting to not make it home to his.”

Physically, Wurzinger says Don was the worst off and has now also suffered a stroke. He is now in the Victoria General Hospital.

A Go Fund Me was set up this week to help Don, his wife Trish and their three children.

Wurzinger said it was important to note that Don saved her life and those of others - and he has now lost his livelihood.

There is a goal of raising $10 thousand - as of this morning it was up over $6 thousand.
