Comox Valley Emergency Management and the Comox Valley Regional FireSmart™ Resilience Committee are putting final preparation on Emergency Preparedness Week, starting with Wildfire Community Preparedness Day on Saturday.

“Emergency Preparedness Week is a great reminder to all residents and businesses in the Comox Valley to review their emergency plan and ensure they are prepared,” says Cari McIntyre, Emergency Planning Coordinator, Comox Valley Emergency Management.

An event is happening this Saturday from 9am to 1pm at the Comox Valley Farmers’ Market.

Fire and emergency services personnel will be onsite with emergency equipment and response vehicles to teach about how you can get prepared.

Lt. Ian Robertson, Chair of the Comox Valley Regional FireSmart Resilience Committee, says Firesmart practices have proven they save lives and property.
