The Comox Valley Emergency Radio Communications Team is looking for new members.

They’re holding an amateur radio course later this month for those looking to get involved during an emergency or disaster affecting the Comox Valley.

The five-day amateur radio course, run by members of the Comox Valley Amateur Radio Club,  will be held on Sundays beginning April 27th.

“This is a great opportunity to become involved in the community and understand the basics of radio communications and the use of amateur radio”, explains Monique Thomas, Emergency Programs and Partnerships Facilitator.

“If you have amateur/ham radio experience or if you are keen to learn and get involved, we would love to hear from you.”Volunteer emergency radio operators will learn the necessary skills to respond when phone service and electrical power are down.

To register, email emergencyprogram@ comoxvalleyrd.ca or call 250-334-6000 and ask for Comox Valley Emergency Management.

For more information on emergency management training, visit Comox Valley RD.
