The headline simply reads, “It’s excessive.”
That from the Comox Valley RCMP, which is highlighting a few notable speeders so far in this new year.
The most recent, on January 31st, when a driver was nabbed doing 110 kph in a 60 kph-zone on 29th Street in Courtenay.
The road was wet and slushy with snow still falling - and police say the driver was suspected of driving drunk.
His vehicle was impounded for a month, he lost his license for at least 90 days and was hit with hefty speeding fines.
In two other cases last month, Comox RCMP stopped someone on Ryan Road travelling 120 km/h in a 60 km/h-zone, and another on the Inland Island Highway at Cook Creek - doing 185 km/h in a 90 km/h-zone.
Both drivers had their vehicles impounded for a week.
