The Comox Valley Regional District Board has decided to adopt all four bylaws that went through a Unified Alternative Approval Process earlier this month.
The AAP concluded on February 18th and less than 10 percent of eligible electors submitted response forms by the deadline for each of the four initiatives, which means the board is able to go ahead and borrow funds for the projects.
That means a new fire hall for Union Bay; a second artificial turf field under the Comox Valley Track and Field Service; changes to emergency shelter and supportive housing initiatives; and an increase in support services to combat homelessness.
Further information about the new services and initiatives, including detailed next steps, will be provided through upcoming staff reports, CVRD website project pages, and through the regional district’s five-year financial planning process.
