The Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) has started up a Regional Parks and Trails Strategic Plan process to guide the future of regional parks and trails over the next 20 years and beyond.
The Strategic Plan will help fill parks service gaps, protect valued areas, and complement the existing community and provincial parks networks as the region grows.
The planning process follows the establishment of a Comox Valley Regional Parks and Trails Service last year.
The CVRD is in talks with K’ómoks First Nation and later this fall will begin meeting with member municipalities and local interest groups to gather and analyze initial information for the planning process.
A broad public process is planned to begin early next year to discuss emerging directions and identify priorities for future regional parks and trails.
