The Comox Valley Regional District is offering top-ups for homeowners who are completing electrical panel upgrades or installing an electric heat pump.
The District has signed on to the CleanBC Municipal Top-Up Program for homeowners in Electoral Areas A, B, and C, including Hornby and Denman Islands.
Edwin Grieve, Electoral Areas Services Committee Chair, says the Municipal Top-Up Program will provide homeowners with access to additional rebates in an effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions at their home or property.
The rebate program will provide $350 for electrical heat pumps and $500 for electrical panel upgrades to eligible electoral area residents. Electrical panel rebates are for 100, 200, or 400 amp service upgrades.
Eligible applicants will be automatically assessed for the top-up rebates when they apply for the CleanBC Better Homes Rebate.
Meanwhile, the Province is expanding its CleanBC Better Homes Energy Savings Program, offering as much as $16,000 in rebates for heat-pump upgrades.
The average heat-pump installation costs between $8,000 and $19,000, depending on the equipment type and heating load.
