The Comox Valley Farmers' Market will be setting up next to the Comox Community Association this summer.
Beginning Wednesday, June 25th, residents and visitors will be able to shop for fresh, local food every week until August 27th, from 3pm to 6pm.
In a release, the Town of Comox says the CVFMA has been making, baking, growing, raising, and wild harvesting food in the region since 1992.
With a strong focus on local agriculture and sustainability, the market supports over 60 percent participation from farmers and fishers and is known as a food-first market.
Twila Skinner, Market Association General Manager, says they’re excited to expand into Comox and bring fresh locally produced goods directly to this part of the Valley.
Skinner says the market is about more than just food - it’s about supporting local farmers and fishers, building community, and increasing accessibility.
The new Comox market becomes the third location operated by the CVFMA, joining their year-round Saturday market in Courtenay and the Sunday market in Cumberland.
“The farmers’ market is a much-anticipated addition to our summer season in Comox,” said Nicole Minions, Comox Mayor.
“Town Council is excited to welcome this community-focused market to a centrally located gathering hub. It supports food security, and our commitment to sustainability and healthy living activities for all ages.”
The CVFMA team is working with Town staff to finalize logistics, including parking and weather contingency planning.
In the coming weeks, the group will also reach out to nearby residents to discuss the plans for the Comox Community Centre field.
