Cumberland Campground is gearing up for the upcoming season - with reservations being accepted starting this morning.
An addition to the campground this season are five new sleeping barrels.
The barrels, with views of Comox Lake, include a queen-size mattress, benches, pull-out table, mini-fridge, and a plastic bubble window with stunning lake views.
Additionally, each site includes a picnic table and fire pit, with a nearby water tap.
About $280 thousand was provided by the Province of British Columbia for developing the sleeping barrel sites.
The funding is through the Destination Development Fund ($203,370), the Island Coastal Economic Trust’s Capital and Innovation Program ($33,555) and Lake Park Society ($42,755).
Week-long reservations will open for the group site, sleeping barrels and main campground this morning at 10am.
Campground reservations can be made online at Cumberland Lake Park and Campground.
Lake Park Society, a non-profit organization, has been managing and programming the grounds since 2015.
