The Courtenay Volunteer Fire Department is holding their annual Christmas Tree Collection and Chipping fundraiser on Saturday and Sunday, January 7 and 8, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Drop off your tree at the Courtenay Fire Hall on Cumberland Road, or in front of Thrifty Foods on Lerwick Road.

For a minimum $5 donation, at-home pickup is also available for all areas served by the Courtenay Fire Department, including fire protection districts.

You’ll want to give them a call at (250) 334-2513 ahead of time for pick-up.

Natural Christmas trees are also collected through the City’s curbside collection and yard waste/organics program.

Trees must be cut in half (3 foot lengths max. per piece) with all decorations, tree stands, and any plastics removed prior to collection.

Keeping Our Word

The word "éy7á7juuthem" means “Language of our People” and is the ancestral tongue of the Homalco, Tla’amin, Klahoose and K’ómoks First Nations, with dialectic differences in each community.

It is pronounced "eye-ya-jooth-hem."
