The Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) board has appointed James Warren the new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) for the regional district.
Warren has been with the regional district for over 18 years and has held various leadership roles during this time. Since 2020 Warren has been the Deputy CAO and as of last April has been the Acting CAO for the regional district.
Warren says he is honoured by the appointment and is looking forward to continuing to serve the Comox Valley and working with the team of exceptional staff at the CVRD.
CVRD Board Chair Will Cole-Hamilton says the job of the CAO is to balance the political interests of the Board with the organization’s operations, adding Warren’s experience ‘’allows him to draw on relationships and knowledge to lead the organization and continue to deliver on its 99 services."
Today is his first day on the job.
Warren takes over from former CAO Russell Dyson, who announced his retirement this summer, having served in the position for more than six years.
Among Dyson's most signature accomplishments was the development of the working relationship with K’ómoks First Nation and the CVRD’s Indigenous Relations Framework, laying the groundwork for a new era of collaboration and engagement.
