The first of a series of public info sessions takes place tonight as water rates are going up in the CVRDs Electoral Districts.
A large portion of the system is made up of infrastructure that is approaching the end of its service life and will require replacement in the coming years. The CVRD says it has a replacement schedule in place, and funding model which shows that increased water rates are required in order to ensure system reliability.
Impacted residents were sent letters with detailed information and invitations to community information sessions happening this month, the first of which goes tonight from 5-7pm at the Union Bay Community Hall.
Residents can learn more about infrastructure replacement needs, the current water rate increases and discuss the changes with CVRD staff and Electoral Area Directors.
