Attorney General David Eby has made it official and has announced his bid to replace John Horgan as BC's next premier.
Eby says he has the overwhelming support from his NDP colleagues - claiming 48 of 57 NDP caucus members are throwing their support behind him.
Eby is so far the only declared candidate in this fall's leadership election, with the winner set to be announced on December 3rd.
Several notable cabinet ministers have already said they wouldn't run for the leadership, including Finance Minister Selina Robinson and Municipal Affairs Minister Nathan Cullen.
Premier Horgan announced last month that he would be stepping down after two bouts with cancer.
The attorney general says accomplishments that include launching an inquiry into money laundering and calling on municipalities to take action on affordable housing have given him the experience to tackle tough challenges if he becomes premier.
