The Town of Comox has issued an alert about death cap mushrooms found in the area.
They’ve been spotted in Comox, near Filberg Park.
Death cap mushrooms are a high health risk in urban environments, as they are extremely poisonous and closely resemble some edible mushrooms from Asia.
Eating them may lead to liver and kidney damage, or death.
The town is asking residents to keep an eye open - not eat anything you cannot positively identify as an edible species - and ensure children and pets are kept at a distance.
