A drug poisoning overdose advisory has been issued for the Comox Valley, a week after the same alert was issued for Campbell River.
“Overdoses are increasing in Campbell River,” says an Island Health warning to people using opioids and stimulants of an increased risk from injecting and inhaling drugs.
The advisory will be in place for the next week.
Island Health says friends, family and community members using opioids are facing an increased risk from both injection and inhalation.
If you suspect someone of overdosing, stay with them and call 911 immediately and administer naloxone if available.
If you are using drugs, do not do so alone.
More information on overdose prevention and supervised consumption sites, drug-checking services and more and be found on the Island Health website.
