Campbell River RCMP are highlighting an incident in which the emergency response team was sent out on a mental health crisis call earlier this week.
On Monday night, around 8pm, police responded to a report of an individual suffering from a mental health crisis.
With the assistance of the Island District Emergency Response Team and an RCMP Crisis Negotiator, the individual was safely taken into custody without issue.
Constable Maury Tyre says in high risk situations, to have everything resolved peacefully is a testament to the professionalism, compassion and skills of the team.
"We would like to thank people in the neighbourhood for their patience and understanding during a time of enhanced police presence," he said.
