Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for much of east Vancouver Island, including Campbell River and the Comox Valley, through the long weekend.
The weather agency says a strong ridge of high pressure is building over the region causing daytime highs to reach the high twenties and overnight lows to be in the high teens.
The above average heat is expected to stick around until the end of the weekend. There is another chance temperatures could rise again next week.
You’re being asked to check on family, friends and neighbours, who are at higher risk, particularly if they live alone, to make sure they have a cool space.
A list of cooling spaces can be found at Comox Valley Cooling Spaces.
