The Province is offering up more rebates to improve accessibility to electric vehicles
The maximum provincial rebate under the CleanBC Go Electric Passenger
Vehicle Rebate Program on the purchase or lease of a battery-electric,
fuel-cell electric vehicle, and long-range plug-in hybrid electric vehicle has
gone up to $4,000, from $3,000. The maximum rebate for lower-range plug-in
hybrid vehicles goes from $1,500 to $2,000.
Eligibility for a rebate will be based on individual or household income levels
with individuals making up to $80,000, or a household with an income up to
$125,000, eligible for the maximum rebate.
Those with annual incomes more than $100,000, or household combined
income of more than $165,000, will not be eligible for the rebates.
The Province says that based on 2020 income tax returns, more than 90% of
British Columbians are eligible for the electric vehicle rebate.
When combined with federal rebates, British Columbians can save as much as
$9,000 on the purchase or lease of a new EV.
In the past five years, the CleanBC Go Electric Vehicle Rebate program has
helped more than 54,000 people in the province make the move to a
clean-energy Electric Vehicle.
