Today is the final day for nominations for the City of Campbell River’s 22nd annual Stewardship Awards.
The awards recognize individuals who work to improve the environmental well-being of the community, who dedicate their time to preserving the integrity and beauty of the city’s natural areas.
The City says that as the community confronts challenges such as biodiversity loss and climate change, the contributions of environmental stewards have become increasingly important.
You can nominate individuals, groups, youth, businesses, and industry representatives who have contributed to the common cause of environmental stewardship in a number of categories, from air quality and alternative transportation options, water and energy consumption, waste reduction and environmental excellence. There’s also a category for youth.
Mayor Kermit Dahl says the awards are an opportunity to recognize residents who generously contribute to conserving Campbell River’s natural areas and keeping the local environment healthy.
Nominations close today at Stewardship Awards, or vote in person at City Hall.
The award ceremony takes place on September 24, 2023.
