It’s the first day back to class for Comox Valley Schools students.
Another reminder to slow down in school zones and watch for kids on the roads.
SD 71 has issued a Non-Descriminiation Notice ahead of students, teachers and staff heading back into the classroom.
The notice states that SD 71 ‘’is committed to upholding and actively promoting the principles established by the BC Human Rights Code within our school community.
We are committed to the safety of 2SLGBTQIA+ student and staff and all students and staff in our school community.’’
It went on to say ‘’All individuals in our schools treat each other with dignity and respect – regardless of race, religion, family status, physical or mental abilities, gender identity, sexual orientation, or age.’’
‘’Students deserve to have the complete support of teachers, administrators, support staff, trustees, parents, guardians, caregivers, and their community, as we work together to create learning environments where all students are free from discrimination so they can thrive and succeed in their school years and beyond.’’
The notice ended with ‘’There is no room for discrimination in SD 71 schools.’’
