Save some time on the weekend to hit up the first Vancouver Island Food Truck Festival.
It’s taking place on Saturday from 1130am to 8pm at Robert Ostler Park in Campbell River.
The event will feature a dozen food trucks from the mid-Island, as well as live music all afternoon. The site will be licensed for alcohol sales to those of legal age but is also kid and family friendly encompassing the playground at Ostler park.
Participants will be able to vote online for their favourite truck and one will be chosen as the Vancouver Island Food Truck Festival 2023 People's Choice.
The organizers are hoping for this to become an annual event attracting food trucks from around the Island and providing a boost to downtown culinary culture in Campbell River.
City Councillor Tanille Johnston initiated the idea, and with help from the Downtown BIA, Highway 19 Concerts, and Young Professionals of Campbell River (YPCR), the Vancouver Island Food Truck Festival took shape.
A grant from Campbell River Daybreak Rotary Club, and site support from the City of Campbell River and the Salmon Festival made the event a reality.
Entry is free, but you'll want to bring your wallet to sample food and drinks from participating food trucks.
