A Courtenay man is hosting a fundraiser for a group that came to his aid earlier this month.
Comox Valley Search & Rescue saved Thierry Vrain's life earlier this month when he went missing while on a hike.
He spent the night in the forest, during a heat wave, with no water, and was found the next day.
He’s on the mend and wants to pay it forward and support the ‘’amazing volunteers at SAR.’’
The event is happening at the Innisfree Botanic Gardens on Tuesday, September 5th - starting at 5pm.
It’s described as an evening of fundraising and fun activities, including a 90-minute talk and demonstration by Search and Rescue to learn how to avoid a similar painful and life-threatening experience.
Comox Valley SAR is currently fundraising for a new home for the crew - needing $1.5-million for the project. They’ve raised about $600 thousand so far.
