The Comox Valley Regional District begins geotechnical drilling work on Lazo Road today, for the rest of the week.

Work is happening along the section that crosses the Lazo Marsh.

The drilling work is part of the Sewer Conveyance Project and is required to better understand ground conditions along the proposed conveyance route.

Traffic will be reduced to single lane alternating beginning this afternoon, and then 7am to 6pm til Friday.

The Sewer Conveyance Project is a multi-year construction project that will replace the pipes and upgrade the pump stations that move more than 14,000 cubic metres of raw sewage each day.

This route starts at the Courtenay Pump Station and moves through K’ómoks First Nation land, downtown Comox and the Lazo Road area to the sewage treatment plant on Brent Road.
