After the original date was postponed due to bad weather, Habitat for Humanity Vancouver Island North held their official key ceremony yesterday for a home on Hilchey Road in Campbell River.
Officials from the City of Campbell River joined volunteers with Habitat to officially present the key to homeowner, Sean Babchuk, and his family.
Along with the key, Babchuk was ceremoniously given a book of learning, a loaf bread, a bag of salt, and tools as he and his family begin their journey in a new home.
The emotional ceremony recognized the volunteers, donors, and community sponsors who support Habitat for Humanity Vancouver Island North and made this possible.
Habitat VIN is currently completing the construction of a 12-unit project on Piercy Avenue in Courtenay, and planning for another build on Hilchey in Campbell River in the near future.
Habitat is always looking for volunteers and supporters to help in a variety of ways to continue to bring communities together to help families build strength, stability, and self-reliance through affordable homeownership.
